Relevant Project Experience

Miami Dade Thermal Storage North Plant Expansion, Miami, Florida

Jorge was the design engineer and EOR for the Miami Dade North Cooling Plant Expansion. He provided the electrical design (power, lighting, and systems) for the north plant expansion and managed the electrical portion of the project. His design supported the installation of an additional rooftop cooling tower along with the replacement of two other cooling towers. He also provided new medium voltage (4160v) electrical gear and infrastructure to support the addition of 12,000 tons of cooling, installation of glycol chillers, and multiple chilled water pumps over 150HP.

He developed a preventative maintenance program for Miami Dade and personally oversaw the maintenance and upgrade of the existing electrical infrastructure.

Miami Dade Central Plant Upgrade, Miami, Florida

Jorge was the design engineer and EOR for the Miami Dade Central Plant upgrade. He provided the design and managed the electrical replacement of medium voltage (13.2kv, 4,160v) and low voltage (480v) equipment. His design helped the plant replace aging equipment and provide new infrastructure to serve new chillers and (4) rooftop cooling towers. He also designed new lighting and load monitoring infrastructure to help Miami Dade control the Central Plant.

Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Northport, New York

Jorge was the design engineer and EOR for the Northport VA Central Energy Plant Upgrade. This project was the result of a cataphoric failure of the critical systems that resulted in the facilities chiller plant being taken offline. Jorge provided onsite coordination and direction for emergency electrical connections for temporary plant equipment to include (4) air cooled chillers and associated pumping system. He also provided the electrical design (Power, Lighting and Systems) for (4) new 700 Ton cooling towers, (6) 100 HP condenser and chilled water pumps, new heat trace, heat exchanger, water treatment system, and chiller plant controls. Jorge also designed an upgrade to existing 480-volt normal branch and equipment branch motor control centers as well as providing a systematic approach for replacing obsolete Federal Pacific equipment. He was also instrumental in evaluating existing 4160V switchgear and providing systematic P.M. measures to ensure equipment reliability. The entire project was completed while maintain full service to the facility and their patients.
