Boiler Replacement
Hallandale, Fl
Davila Engineering delivered MEPFP design and construction administration for the Memorial Cancer Institute (Hallandale, FL) $400K hot-water reheat boiler plant replacement, implementing an N+1 hot water system of Lochinvar fire-tube condensing boilers sized from load trending and integrated into the building’s reheat distribution. The upgrade replaces the legacy chimney with a Category IV, positive-pressure, sealed-combustion vent system using UL-1738–listed materials. Controls were modernized with remote connectivity with cascade lead/lag, outdoor-reset, pump control, and BMS to optimize staging, ΔT, & part-load efficiency. The selected FTXL models deliver up to 98.3% thermal efficiency with 10:1 turndown, low-NOx operation, and variable-flow capability— reducing cycling and fuel use while maintaining tight temperature control for patient-facing spaces.
