Memorial Hospital West
AHU Replacement
Pembroke Pines, FL
Davila Engineering provided professional engineering services to support the $500k replacement of AHU-2 at Memorial Hospital West Rehabilitation Institute in Pembroke Pines, FL. The scope included Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection services for design and construction documents, AHJ interactions, and construction administration. Key project elements included replacing the existing AHU-2 unit serving the rehabilitation pool area with a corrosion-resistant, energy-efficient model, and incorporating a fan wall and UV-C disinfection. Davila Engineering was tasked with providing a design that allowed for the full replacement of the HVAC system to be conducted over a 3- day weekend. The project involved demolition of old equipment, installation of a new valve actuator, duct heater, and chilled water lines, as well as upgrades to the Building Automation System (BAS). Additionally, the design included modifications to electrical and fire protection systems, air distribution, and compliance with ASHRAE 170. Construction phase services encompassed AHCA and AHJ review responses, equipment submittal reviews, site inspections, and final system testing to ensure optimal unit performance. The project was executed under a singlephase approach, with DE providing comprehensive engineering oversight throughout all phases.
